A big breakfast with plenty of choices is included in the price, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms have sinks with a shared bathroom. It’s close to the train station, with a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel at home. I recommend staying here when you’re in Appenzell.

The train station is right outside, no more than a minute’s walk, so the location made a perfect base for our three-night hiking trip in Appenzell. Staying three nights also got us the Appenzell Holiday Card, covering local transport, cable cars, and transfers to and from Zurich. Breakfast had lots of options, including fresh bread, fruit, continental items, meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, and scrambled eggs you could order. The hosts were so friendly and greeted us with a smile each morning. Our simple rooms had everything we needed and were cleaned daily. The self check-in machine out front was very convenient. I highly recommend it.

We were close to the trains but it was incredibly quiet. The station is about two minutes away, handy for getting out to hike, while the town center is around a seven-minute walk. Monica was very welcoming and took great care of us. Breakfast had a great range of food and drinks, and the bed was comfortable. The shared bathroom hadn’t been renovated and the bathtub was uncomfortable, but that wasn’t a deal breaker.

Breakfast was generous and varied, with local products, and the room was a comfortable, convenient double with its own bathroom. Everything was tidy and well looked after. The hotel is only a few steps from the lovely town of Appenzell, and I had a wonderful stay.

The location is superb, and we barely noticed the trains. We stayed three nights, so the holiday card covered our trip from Zurich airport to Appenzell, regional trains and PubliCar, and the ride onward to Lucerne. Our double room had a private bathroom, comfortable beds, and everything was very clean. Monica was so kind and welcoming. She and, I assume, her daughters cleaned daily, even folding the duvet and our clothes while we were out. Check-in was seamless, laundry was free, and breakfast was incredible, with Monica kindly cooking eggs for us each morning. Of the four hotels my friend and I stayed at in Switzerland, Hotel B&B was easily my favorite. I highly recommend Hotel B&B Stossplatz if you’re staying in Appenzell.
