The courtyard was a real highlight, and we loved how the beautiful building has been renovated with a modern touch while keeping its original style. Our room was huge and spotless, and the staff made us feel welcome and were very accommodating with our pet. The neighborhood has plenty of restaurants, bars, and local spots, and although it’s a little outside the center, we could get around easily on foot or by tram. We spent two lovely nights at Volkshaus and will be back.

We loved the warm, welcoming feel of this beautiful boutique hotel. Herzog & de Meuron designed it with a great balance of function and comfort. We also had excellent breakfast and dinner at the brasserie. A wonderful stay in Basel, and we’ll definitely return.

The restaurant and bar next door are a real gem, even if you’re not staying at the hotel. The rooms are beautiful, the staff are lovely, and the location is great. An amazing hotel.

We had both lunch and dinner at the restaurant, and each meal was fantastic. The room was spacious, quiet, and luxurious, and the staff were keen to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Everything in the city is close by from this central location. I’d definitely stay here again.

8/10
The staff were professional and helpful, and the included breakfast was excellent. Our dinner was also very good, though a bit pricey. The beds were comfortable and the hotel and rooms were very clean, making it a comfortable, well-situated choice for a short stay. The hallways and rooms felt rather dim, and the light switches took some figuring out. A couple of USB charging ports would have been useful.
