Its spot right in the middle of the trail is about the only thing this place has going for it. We ordered two espressos, which were fine, then asked for some water. They questioned us and said we’d have to order it, even though asking for water feels pretty normal anywhere. The older man working there was quite impolite. I ended up filling my own bottle from the tap. Honestly, it feels like a trap.

A good place to pause on a hike. We stopped for lunch and really enjoyed the food, especially the trout focus, though there were also some great meat choices, including the entrecôte in the photo, plus a few things for the kids. There’s plenty of pleasant outdoor seating and a simple dining room inside. The staff didn’t speak much English, but we managed fine. Prices were about what you’d expect in Switzerland.

We’ve eaten here a few times. The food is good, though prices are high and service can be hit or miss. Today we left after waiting half an hour, because our table still hadn’t been cleared from the previous guests. Meanwhile, people who arrived after us had already been served several times.

On a nice day, I’d take a picnic down to the quiet riverbank and leave this beautifully located restaurant aside. We got there shortly after midday, with less than half the tables occupied, but there was crockery piled up everywhere, indoors and out, and the busy staff looked tired. We moved some dishes together to make space, then went in to order. Half an hour later, when we asked about the food, they said they’d forgotten and asked if we still wanted it. I expect there’ll be a story about staff shortages, but the restaurant should adjust how many places it offers so service can be handled properly. Perhaps then the staff would also have time to keep the toilets clean. They’re a restaurant’s calling card.
