My father and I ate at the hotel restaurant. The food came quickly and tasted okay, but the service was strange. The reason for my 1-star rating is what happened with the bill. As soon as we arrived, we noticed something seemed off with the bill at the table behind us, though we didn't think much of it then. When we got ours, there was no receipt. The waiter hurried things along and only told us what we'd eaten. It felt expensive, so we checked the menu and saw the prices didn't match. We went back in to ask for a receipt, and found that the waiter had added a tip for himself without telling us. When I confronted him, he acted as if he didn't understand, then refunded the tip. It was obvious to us that this was something they were used to doing. Check your bill carefully and speak up if something looks wrong. Extremely unprofessional, and unacceptable anywhere.

Restaurant only. We stopped in during a road trip. The staff seemed to treat us like an inconvenience, and the service was efficient but unfriendly. The food was just fine, neither good nor bad. I suspect the location and boat bring in customers without much effort from the restaurant.

The location is perfect, and the food was decent with generous portions and reasonable prices. This is a restaurant review. The staff didn't really speak English, but they were friendly enough and understood what we needed.

The hotel's central spot is also its downside. It's old but well maintained. There are no fans or air conditioning, so in summer you have to sleep with the windows open. I've never slept somewhere louder.

The location worked perfectly for the station, local attractions, and the promenade where you catch the boat to Geissbach. Although the hotel is on the main road through Brienz, we slept very well both nights thanks to the blackout blinds and good windows. My family and I stayed 2 nights in July. The children, aged 20, 18, and 8, were comfortable in a quadruple room with an ensuite. Their front room had a breathtaking view of Lake Brienz, while my husband and I had an equally comfortable room at the back overlooking the Rothorn Bahn. The staff were amazing and very welcoming.
