Hotel St Gervais Geneva

The only good things were the friendly staff when we arrived and the location. The shared bathroom was disgusting and clogged, and with no staff on site after hours, nobody could use the toilet on our level. The toilet backed up into the shower, which was nasty, so I couldn’t shower. The room was extremely hot, and the only help was a small fan. I couldn’t sleep.

The room is small and best suited to one person. The WC is shared on the floor, but that was never a problem because I always found it available. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent, near public transport, Carnavin main train station, and Geneva Lake. It’s easy to reach from the airport and WHO and other offices by public transport. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, including Manor.

The shared toilet and shower setup is an interesting one. I was lucky to have my room right opposite, and both the room and bathroom were clean. The rooms are tiny by North American standards, sometimes oddly shaped, though you can see that in the photos. Two people can manage, but it’ll feel cramped, and anyone over 5'5 may not fit on the bed. There’s no A/C, so you’ll need to open a window. I was there in late May and it was fine. Noise wasn’t a problem for me, though that could change. One thing to watch is the hotel locks the entrance and front desk at 3pm. I had no trouble, but I met an American couple whose train was late and who nearly couldn’t get into their room. Another guest leaving let them into the lobby. They’d been told their key would be in the room, but were given the wrong room number and struggled to reach management. Luckily, a staff member arrived about an hour later and got them into the right room.

I felt welcome as soon as I arrived, thanks to the really friendly staff. The room was clean and comfortable, a nice place to relax. The location is great too, right downtown and about a five-minute walk from the train station. I’d happily recommend it.
