Derby Swiss Quality Hotel

We picked the Derby Swiss Quality Hotel for its spot beside the train station and close to shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable, and the staff turned out to be super kind. Breakfast had lots of choices, including lactose-free milk, and the ski room has good shoe heating. After skiing, we especially enjoyed unwinding our muscles in the sauna.

The room upgrade for our anniversary was so special, and we’re very grateful to Ricardo and Kostas for being kind and helping us find our way to the hotel after we got off at the terminal instead of the village. The room had a gorgeous view, with cowbells in the distance. We also appreciated Dominic’s cheerful service and help with my gluten restrictions, and Jaqueline helping us plan out our day. The staff really go the extra mile. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was easy for me to manage despite not being able to eat gluten. We had dinner at the hotel every night, and both the food and service were excellent. The whole team was warm and welcoming. We loved staying at the Derby Swiss Hotel. The station is very close, but it’s small and quaint, and the hotel was very quiet. That proximity was a great bonus for arriving, leaving, and getting around on our vacation.

The beds might be firmer for some people, and parking can feel a bit tight. Still, the Derby Swiss Quality Hotel is a comfortable, convenient base in Grindelwald. It’s right beside the train station, which makes getting around the Jungfrau region easy, and it works well for both hiking and skiing, with nearby trails and transport. Many rooms look out to the Eiger and other peaks. Guests also praise the breakfast buffet and the friendly staff, who are always happy to help. The hotel has a warm, welcoming feel.

We had no complaints, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. Our clean, spacious room had a cosy Swiss style and the modern comforts we needed, making it a nice place to return to after a day out. Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh fruit, pastries, local cheeses, hearty dishes, and plenty of other choices. The Derby Swiss Hotel is in the heart of Grindelwald with lovely Alpine views. It’s about a five-minute walk from the First Grindelwald cable car station, so getting to things like the zip line and gondola was easy. We’d highly recommend it for a visit to Grindelwald.
