Alplodge Interlaken - Hotel

The terrace is lovely for meals, and the kitchen is great. It's clean bathroom-wise, though the toilets and showers are combined, so you can get stuck waiting for the toilet while someone showers. The dorms are small and my bed frame squeaked like crazy. Still, it's good budget accommodation, and the balcony view is lovely. It's right by the river, a couple of blocks from the public riverside swimming spot, and close to Interlaken West. There are plenty of supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Ask for the Interlaken pass to get free public transport around the area. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The location is great, and the balcony has a nice view. I enjoyed having somewhere to eat food from the communal kitchen or just hang out. For Switzerland, the price is reasonable, even if it's triple what I pay at hostels outside the country. The bathrooms were the biggest problem. There seemed to be only four or five for the whole hostel, and each combines a shower and toilet. The layout makes it almost impossible to shower without soaking the toilet floor. It was always wet, so I had to take off my socks every time I went in. Rooms are small too, beds creak, and there aren't enough power outlets. There wasn't really any service. Check-in is self-service, and I only got help with my key card because a staff member happened to walk by. It's not a social hostel either, with no activities, so meeting people means taking the initiative yourself. That didn't bother me, but it's worth knowing. I don't get why this hostel is rated so highly. I've stayed in places rated 6/10 that were better.

Everything we needed was here, and the place was super clean. It's just a few minutes' walk from everything. Absolutely fantastic stay, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Check-in and check-out were easy, and the shared room was comfortable with a nice view of the nearby lake. I stayed for a couple of days at this affordable hostel in Interlaken. Great value for the price!
