Breakfast was great, and the hostess there was awesome. The rooms are okay but dated, with thin walls that let you hear other guests easily. The shower head is maybe four feet high. The rest of the property feels overpriced for what it offers. Mediocre motel.

Our room was large, with firm twin beds that suited us, and the staff at the hotel and breakfast were great. We didn’t use housekeeping, so I can’t comment on that. The shower is small by US standards, maybe three feet by three, which is more normal in Europe. Its curtain clings to you, and the shower head sits only about five and a half feet up. It’s a wand style, but the height isn’t adjustable unless you take it out of the holder, leaving you with one hand occupied when washing or rinsing. We stayed in room 21 at the end of the second floor, and had the best view of two of the three mountains from our room. Many second-floor rooms have views, but the trees block the view from the bottom floor. Ask for a mountain-view room and expect to pay a little more. The location is hard to beat: Wilderswil’s bus and train station is about a ten-minute walk or less. It’s a little cheaper to stay here than in Interlochen or other better-known towns, and rides of 15 to 30 minutes take you to nearby towns and attractions like Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen.

The buffet breakfast was small but had enough for us, and ours was included. It’s served in the front building, where the staff were clean and helpful. The place has a lovely view of Jungfrau and the surrounding peaks, and they provide a card for free travel by transport between Wilderswil and Interlaken. It’s a decent inn about 10 to 20 minutes outside Interlaken, I think. The bed was large, though it turned out to be two king singles pushed together. It was comfortable, with tea and coffee in the room. The bathroom was okay, with a curtained shower and good water pressure. We had to walk about seven minutes to the junfrau hotel to check in and fill in all our information again. I found that annoying and pointless since we’d already provided the details to reserve. Thanks for the reply, but when we arrived the door wouldn’t open at all. We didn’t want to keep trying in case we broke the door or glass.

The self-check-in computer was easy and quick to use. The chalets are spacious and have great views, and our room had plenty of space and a large balcony. The bathroom was a good size, with a strong shower, though the plastic curtain was terrible. We spent three nights here exploring the region. Wilderswil is a calm, quiet village in a great location, and the hotel is less than a ten-minute walk from the train station. Breakfast was good, with a few kinds of bread, nice food, cheeses, scrambled eggs, bacon, and yogurt with cereal.

This was the worst hotel on my 18-day trip around Switzerland, France, and Italy. There were several spider webs in the bathroom when I checked in. The shower area is tiny, with a nylon curtain that hangs only inches from you and has no way to secure the bottom. When wet, it sticks to your body. Trying to pull it away so you can shower sends water onto the floor, and the hand-shower hook is only at waist height. I was threatened with a CHF200 fine for getting the bathroom floor wet (see attached picture). Because of all this, I didn’t shower after the first night.
