Down Town Apartments Harderstrasse 44

It was budget-friendly, but dated and poorly maintained. One room had no ventilation because its only window opened onto the shared corridor. We ended up moving the mattresses into the living room.

The room felt a bit old, but it had what we needed. The neighborhood was quiet, and the location wasn't too far from the train station. We wouldn't mind coming back.

The kitchen was well equipped and the rooms were big, but the TV didn't work. It’s some distance from the main town and street, though there’s a really good restaurant nearby. There’s no bathroom heater, so showers can feel cold in the colder season. The hot water is shared with the kitchen, which means the shower can suddenly turn cold when someone uses hot water there.

We had the top-floor penthouse unit, fairly close to Hohemate. It was clean, thanks to the housekeeper, but there was a strong paint smell. We could hear footsteps on the wooden stairs when someone walked on them, though I guess it may be less bad on the lower floors. There was no reception or security staff, which didn't make us feel very safe at night. In the middle of the night, we heard people talking and saw a torch shining from outside the front door. It was pretty scary.
