The Guesthouse by the Hey Hotel

The hotel was in a handy spot. We could catch a bus to Lake Brienz right in front, and Interlaken West station was only a few minutes away. The room was very good, and breakfast had lots of variety and tasted great. A friend and I came from London for a few days, and the staff gave us a really warm welcome. Adam in particular was incredibly kind and helpful, and shared recommendations for things to do.

The location and the staff were the best parts of my stay. Interlaken West station is a short walk away, and everyone I spoke with was friendly. Getting to the guesthouse was a little odd: I had to check in through the main hotel, then go around to a back door. My room was clean and spacious enough for two 28” suitcases, though the bed was in a strange spot, pushed into a corner against the wall. There was no air conditioning, and the small fan wasn’t enough in the summer heat. The room also had no kettle, bottled water, coffee, tea, toothbrush, or shower cap. You could refill your own water bottle at reception, but I would have liked some of those basic things in the room. It’s a good choice if location and a clean, roomy space matter most, just bring your own toiletries and expect limited in-room amenities.

The location made it easy to get around, and the place was quiet enough to unwind. Everything was super clean and cozy, with what I needed for my stay. The staff were friendly and made me feel welcome. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable spot.

For 25CHF, I didn’t think the breakfast menu was worth the price. Also, there’s no kettle in the room for tea or coffee. You have to cross the alley to the hotel lobby to get hot water. The hotel seems like decent value otherwise. The staff are friendly and will listen to questions or requests without looking grumpy.
