Hotel du Marche

Lausanne is an expensive city, so this was a comfortable option just a short walk from the center. We had a nice room with cozy beds and our own bathroom. The hotel also has rooms with shared toilets, and reception isn't open around the clock. It was quiet and very clean, and the staff were really nice. Parking was right out front at a reasonable price. I'd book here again when I'm in Lausanne.

The check-in was quick and easy, and our spacious room was clean, with plenty of towels and complimentary coffee. Hôtel du Marché is close to the old town, the cathedral, and the city center. The shared shower and toilet were decent enough, and it felt like good value. Breakfast is available for an extra 15 euros per person. I'd recommend it.

We were sent up to our room, only to find it hadn't been cleaned and the beds weren't made, so we spent quite a while waiting in the hallway. The rooms themselves are fairly comfortable, and the location is good, near lots of tourist attractions. The building is quite outdated.

I was in Lausanne for a business conference for a few nights. The hotel is easy to get around from, and for a budget trip it could be a good option. For business, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. The internet was a bit slow in my room, which didn't help with work. When my flight was delayed, I needed to check myself in. After I emailed to remind them, the hotel sent the instructions for after 8 pm. I got both the entrance key and room key, but the room key didn't work properly. I emailed and called several times without getting an answer, then waited in the corridor for about an hour before another guest helped me open the door. The cleaning wasn't done properly. I asked the cleaner to change the bed linens during my five-night stay, but they only made the bed without changing them. There was body soap in the shower, but no shampoo or conditioner. I also needed an iron for business meetings. Reception told me they didn't have one, but later I saw other guests using an iron, so I borrowed it from someone else. I found that unprofessional. Reception also didn't explain that tourists are given free transportation cards, so I had to ask for mine.
