The location made it easy to walk everywhere, and getting in after hours was straightforward. The hotel was spotless, and I slept deeply with the windows open and fresh mountain air coming in. My room was clean, and I appreciated being able to open the windows. Breakfast had fresh fruit, breads, nuts, muesli, juices, and milk, with eggs cooked to order. The service at Hotel Engel was attentive and considerate, and they seemed to anticipate what I needed. The Torlii tower chimes gave the town a cozy, charming feel. Everything ran smoothly, and I’d absolutely stay again.

We’ve already made plans to return and use Hotel Engel as our base while exploring more of the region. The beds were a dream, the rooms were very clean, and the staff were so accommodating. We also loved Mad Angel, where we had some of the best food of our stay, and the breakfast buffet was outstanding.

I’ve stayed here three times for business, and Hotel Engel is one of my favorite hotels anywhere. It’s close to what you need in Liestal, with the train and bus a short walk away and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are nice, and the staff are friendly. Thanks to everyone at the Engel for always making us feel at home.

There’s a large, handy supermarket in the same building, and the rooms are clean and well looked after. The staff are friendly, very helpful, and speak English fluently. Cross the road and you’re in a fascinating medieval town. Hotel Engel is a lovely place to stay.

The location was really handy, close to the train station and right beside the old part of town. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were kind, especially with my elderly mother while she was dealing with some difficult medical issues. The hotel was very clean and comfortable.
