We only ate at the restaurant, but it was well worth stopping. It's right on the road to Interlaken, and the fairy lights make the Gasthaus look magical at night. The staff welcomed us warmly, the waitresses were so friendly, and the food arrived quickly. The menu has some interesting twists beyond the usual Swiss dishes, like different Flammkuchen flavours, a homemade veggie burger, a deer burger and sweet potato fries. Prices are normal for Swiss restaurants. The Gasthaus has clean, modern wooden decor and smells wonderful throughout. I wish we'd stayed in the rooms too, and I'll happily come back.

Whenever we're passing by, I end up ordering the Wurstsalat at Brünig Kulm again, even when I've told myself beforehand to try something else. The Cervelat Schweizer Brühwurst and quality regional mountain cheese with vegetables, salad and that excellent dressing are hard to resist. The soup was delicious too, as were the homemade pastries. Definitely worth a visit. A little further down on the opposite side, there's an old-style mountain house making lovely mountain and special planed cheeses. Don't miss stopping there.

We stopped here for a break on the way to interlaken and felt unwelcome from the start, especially by the woman who served us. We ordered takeaway and were told we couldn't sit on the decking. She said we'd have to pay a different price to sit outside, and spoke to us very rudely. Staff should know how to speak to customers. We left right away, wondering how a place with that attitude can be in hospitality. This is not what we expect from a restaurant. Replying to the owners' comments: Nothing was mixed up with another place. I recorded the date and time on my phone: 28/03 at 12 noon. You can check the CCTV to see who served us. There was only one other couple there. You said there was no different price for takeaway and sitting outside, but your staff member clearly gave us wrong information: “take away means take away, you can sit here just for this time.” This was not only bad customer service, but also discrimination. Other customers have said they felt unwelcome too. Your staff's attitude towards customers needs a proper change.

The breakfast was great, the staff were very nice, and the food options were delicious. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the kids had fun with the loft. Waking up to mountains across the valley and waterfalls cascading down was breathtaking. There's ample parking, monitored by video, plus motorcycle and bicycle parking out front and electric car charging spots. It is a bit pricey, but you're paying for an excellent stay.
