The Gate Boutique Hotel Zürich

A lovely little hotel with a wonderful team. The room was quiet, comfortable, and well equipped. Before our long drive to the next stop, the staff even insisted we take fresh croissants and cappuccino along. The whole stay was a gem.

The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. I only stayed overnight, so I didn't use the balcony, but the room was spacious and had windows on two sides. The airport was close by.

The room worked well for two adults and a child: it was clean, smelled fresh, and had a good-sized balcony. We also appreciated the coffee pod machine and the sink for washing cups and plates. We were on the second floor, and the elevator made getting our luggage up easy. We stayed at The Gate Boutique Hotel Zurich for three nights in early June 2025, and the whole experience was very comfortable. Since we relied on public transport to get around Zurich, the location was handy. The tram and bus stops were about a 5-8 minute walk away. At check-in, Cynthia greeted us warmly and got everything sorted smoothly. Our room had already been paid for through Agoda, so we just paid the city tax and got a proper receipt. Cynthia also shared useful travel tips and suggested checking the weather before making outdoor plans. May was lovely to talk to at breakfast and during the rest of our stay. She was cheerful and professional, and she and Cynthia both checked that we had what we needed. Their English was very good, so communication was easy. The hotel's service, location, and comfortable setup made our family stay easy and welcoming. We'd happily recommend it to families or solo travelers.

The hotel is about a five-minute drive from the airport, and it's fine for a night. The area is residential. The room was small but decent, and the waitress and receptionist were polite. You can hear some noise, though, so bring earplugs if you're sensitive. There were no gluten-free breakfast options. The outdoor parking is in front of the building, without a gate or protection, and costs 25 CHF. At check-in there was confusion when I was asked if I was "in the parking." I said I'd parked outside, thinking they meant outside versus the garage. In the morning the owner was rude and pressed me to pay as though I'd taken something, without even saying hello or hearing my explanation. The parking charge should be explained clearly, since you can park for free in the nearby blue zones on the street. If the owner hadn't handled it that way, I'd have left with a much better impression. Next time, let the employees deal with guests.
