Grand Hotel Kronenhof

This was our sixth visit, and we already can’t wait to return. From the rooms to the ski experience, everything feels flawless. The staff are hospitable and happy to accommodate what you ask for, and their attention to each guest and every detail keeps surprising us. It’s been one of the best hotel experiences my family has had.

We got engaged at the Grand Hotel Kronenhof, so this place will always mean a lot to us. The setting was magical for such a life-changing moment, and the whole stay, from booking through departure, was extraordinary. Angel, Daniel, Celso, Matteo, Luciana, and everyone who helped us at the bar, restaurant, and in our room made it unforgettable. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable, and the facilities were impeccably maintained. Breakfast was delicious, and the pick-up and drop-off transport was absolutely five-star. Everyone was polite and glad to help. They even found us a ski school and arranged to have ski equipment ready at the hotel, which made everything easier. We’re so grateful, and can’t recommend it enough.

The hotel is beautiful, but after our two-day stay we left disappointed and won’t return. Some staff were friendly and helpful, though others, particularly in the concierge service, didn’t seem properly trained. One employee we spoke with was quite rude. We couldn’t eat at either of the hotel’s two restaurants during our stay. We were told in advance that one would be closed for a private event one evening, but expected the other to remain open for hotel guests, with staff making sure guests could have dinner on site. Instead, the concierge suggested alternatives on both evenings, and they weren’t appealing. One of them had extremely poor service. Since we were celebrating my husband’s birthday, not being able to arrange dinner at the hotel was especially disappointing and didn’t meet what we expect from a five-star place. The coffee was absolutely terrible, especially at breakfast. For a five-star hotel, we expected a proper coffee machine, not cheap automatic coffee that was barely drinkable. Breakfast was also underwhelmingly presented, which gave us the impression that the hotel was cutting corners. The property itself is very beautiful, but these issues mean we won’t be back.

The spa was a highlight: the sauna and pool were comfortable, the water was just right, and it never felt crowded. Dinner at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant was excellent, with impeccable service and a smooth, elegant experience. Breakfast was outstanding too, with lots of fresh fruit in a beautiful, pleasant room, and a thoughtful team that noticed even small details. I came to ski, and the staff kindly looked after my skis. I also brought my dog, and they were very considerate of that. The room was excellent, with fresh fruit replenished each day. Every corner is carefully decorated with fresh flowers, and the staff are warm and welcoming wherever you go. They greeted us with smiles, remembered our names quickly, and made us feel at home. Their hospitality has a real sense of warmth, tradition, and heritage. The luggage staff deserve a special mention for being charming and funny while still professional. I visited Zermatt, Andermatt, and Stoos on this ski trip, and this hotel was easily my favorite. I’m already looking forward to coming back.
