I’ve stayed twice and enjoyed both visits. It’s a peaceful place to unwind, with old-world charm and elegance, and good value for money. The small spa is free to use, though it gets busy even with the booking system. We had fun on the e-bikes, feeling the wind through our whiskers as we rode between villages in the valley. The restaurant is great and breakfast is generous. I think I prefer the Mountain View room to the lake view. The trees block the lake view, which was a small disappointment.

The Bernina railway stop is only a few metres away, and travel through the valley is free with the guest-card. There are lovely walks along the lake shore, plus hiking routes from easy to adventurous. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. Service was friendly and competent, and the rooms were clean, nicely and classically decorated, with views of either the lake or mountains. The hotel’s gourmet restaurant is excellent and has wonderful lake views.

The Rhätische Bahn stops right at the gate, making it easy to travel in either direction along the valley. The staff were impeccable and the management was great. This is a superior boutique hotel, from the villa’s shared spaces to the bungalows, which I recommend, and the art, including graphics and sculpture, the cleanliness, garden and restaurant. The restaurant is a must in its own right. The property includes the villa, park, sleek bungalows and a quarter-mile of lakefront. It was restored in recent years with exquisite taste and close attention to the house’s history and the character of the area. What more could you ask for?

The restaurant is excellent, and the outdoor tables right by the lake make for a very romantic setting. The hotel itself is traditional and upscale.
