Hôtel de l'Aigle

The location is excellent, especially if you're interested in Absithe tasting. Our room was large and clean, though the bathroom looked unfinished, with no floor tiles. That was disappointing for a 4-star hotel. The staff were very friendly, and there was plenty of free water and tea in the hallway. We enjoyed the garden restaurant too. We chose breakfast and dinner with the room: breakfast had a good range of bread, cheese, meat, and cornflakes, while dinner was good, though I would've liked a choice of two main courses. I can recommend this hotel.

The food is good, the service friendly, and there's a fine selection of wines. Try the local unfiltered wine. The menu is mostly classic fare, and meat is usually cooked as expected. Vegetarians and vegans may find few or no choices. Since the Restaurant and Hotel is a long way from everything, don't count on service in languages other than French. I've returned to this restaurant several times over the years, and find it a pleasant place to visit. Book a room for a relaxing weekend of walks in nature. There are plenty of things to see in this Valley.

My husband and I had dinner here, and the food wasn't anything special. I think we could've done better at home. What bothered me most was the bare, empty dining room. It felt like it had no personality or soul, and it wasn't a very nice place to eat.

We rang ahead around 20.45 to say we were coming and were told the kitchen was open until 21, so there'd be no problem. Traffic meant we arrived at 20.54, but the kitchen was empty, there was nobody at reception, and our keys were left on the desk. We ended up going out to find the village's only pizzeria open on a Sunday evening.
