Park Hotel Vitznau

The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and I enjoyed the spa because it wasn't crowded. But getting a decent night's sleep was a problem. The bed joined two twin mattresses, with a bumpy styrofoam piece between them, and it was so uncomfortable that I took photos. The manager came to check after I complained, and they tried adding a topper to the gel mattress. After another terrible night, I was finally offered a different room. Then housekeeping came in while I was in the bathroom, even though the Do Not Disturb sign was up. They seemed to think I'd already moved rooms, but they knocked and entered right away without waiting. That was unacceptable. The location also felt too far away, with little to do nearby. The stay was pretty average, and I won't be back.

We were dressed according to the required dress code, but still couldn't get a spontaneous dinner during the week in low season. Staff told us we had to book 24 hours ahead. We asked several times for an explanation and never got a clear or reasonable one. Refusing walk-ins so completely, with no flexibility, left us feeling that guest satisfaction and service don't matter much here. It was deeply disappointing and hard to understand.

We stayed in the Residence suite for our 20th anniversary, and they made the trip feel special. The room was spacious and stylish, with stunning lake views. The food was amazing at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, freshly made and beautifully presented. And then there's the next level Focus Atelier restuarant! The location is beautiful, and the spa is luxurious, with lots of facilities and a heated indoor-outdoor pool. Service was amazing and professional. Staff were attentive and engaging when we wanted that, while giving us privacy when we didn't. They'd consider anything and look into it for us. Perfection. Thank you.

The people here are what made the hotel feel so welcoming. From the front desk and the drivers to every staff member we met, everyone was friendly, attentive, and eager to help. The drivers and front desk staff went out of their way, getting us where we needed to go and sharing lovely local insights and recommendations that made each day more enjoyable. Service felt impeccable throughout, thoughtful and professional, but also warm. We left smiling with wonderful memories and can't wait to come back. The hotel's beauty and amenities are lovely too, but it's the people who stand out.
