Hotel Sonne

The food was exceptional, and our room felt clean and cosy. There are lots of thoughtful little touches that make the place feel warm. The awkward part was arriving and leaving: the receptionist seemed annoyed and made faces, which didn’t make us feel welcome.

We enjoyed the balcony view of the Churfirsten mountain range, and the rooms were well equipped. It’s a typical mid-range Swiss-style hotel and restaurant, with the main bus stop right across the road and plenty of parking. It seems set up for skiers in winter and hikers in summer. The restaurant uses local ingredients at moderate prices. The spa area is on the small side, though it was manageable with the restrictions in place.

Breakfast was a nice start, especially the homemade items, and the room had everything I needed along with a wonderful view. The restaurant didn’t particularly impress me, though it wasn’t bad. For the price, I’d happily stay here again.

The price was moderate, but breakfast really needs work. When I asked about eggs, they said they’d be happy to provide some. At checkout, we found an extra 30chf on the bill, with no one having told us the eggs weren’t included. Parking wasn’t great either. I’d look at other options.
