Reka-Feriendorf Wildhaus

The buildings are a little old and the apartments on the small side, but everything was very clean and worked well. The water temperature and room temperature were good, and it was quiet. The village is right next to the Wildhaus ski resort, with a decent ski raum that gets a bit overcrowded. There’s a nice pool and indoor space for spending the late afternoon before dinner. The shuttle bus connections are good, and reception can provide good-quality bread, fruit, meat, and other food.

My family had a good stay at Reka in Wildhaus, and the swimming hall was a big hit. The apartments have amazing views, the ski bus picks up in the parking area, and you can buy discounted lift ticks at the front desk. There’s also a shared area with a playroom for children. A couple of things could be better: there aren’t many power outlets, and hauling our luggage up the steep mountainside was unpleasant. They have small handcarts, but none were available when we arrived. Even so, I’d recommend this Reka location as a great place for families.

There’s lots to do nearby, with hiking trails, minigolf, ping pong, and pool tables. The place is family friendly, with childcare and a nice swimming pool. The staff were very friendly, and our apartment was clean. Every house in the village has amazing mountain views, and the location is excellent. Fresh bakery products can be ordered for the next day. One thing to check is when the cable car runs, since it might be closed until the end of May. The mattress was very hard, and depending on which house you’re in, it can be noisy with kids and people passing by.

Our stay had some positive parts, but the problems and long waits were very disappointing, especially for the kids. I think we should be compensated for the inconvenience, otherwise it just wouldn’t be fair. I booked a Type U room for 3 nights for 8 people (4 adults and 3 kids), from August 15th to August 19th. We arrived at 7:00 PM on August 15th and found we’d been assigned Room 49, at the very top of the property. The card we were given only opened the kitchen. It was extremely cold outside, and I spent over two hours looking for help before finding the Gastronomie staff, who helped me contact the caretaker. After another two-hour wait, the caretaker found that the system had mistakenly assigned our room to someone else. We had to stay in two small rooms instead of the large room we’d booked, ruining the purpose of our trip. The kids were constantly moving between rooms, and I got no compensation for the wrong assignment or the hours spent waiting. The next day, after the swimming pool, our door wouldn’t open and kept flashing red. It took 1.5 hours to reach the caretaker. He said the system had blocked us because we hadn’t completed check-in, which made no sense since I’d paid in full. We were left outside in the cold for two hours. When he finally arrived, he replaced the door lock battery, confirming my suspicion that it was low, not a check-in issue as he’d first claimed.
