Our favorite part of the evening came after dinner, when we stepped onto the balcony and looked up at a sky full of stars. There was hardly any light around, so they looked brighter and more numerous than we’d ever seen. We slept well afterward in a very comfortable bed with soft bedding. Dinner was nearly over when we arrived, so we went straight down to eat. It ended up being the best meal of our eight-day trip. My 17-year-old son and I finished our plates and left room for dessert, which he still talks about. Earlier, after a bit of a mix-up on our way to the hotel, we’d been welcomed warmly and shown to our room. There was even a keepsake picture for us to take home. The next morning we opened the balcony doors for some fresh mountain air, then went down for a hearty breakfast that set us up for a full day of travel. We also wandered around the hotel, where every room seemed to make you want to stay a little longer. Christopher and his staff had clearly put care into the service and all the small details. The garden just off the kitchen gave us a closer look at what farm-to-table dining can mean. Before we left, I hiked into the hills to an abandoned church with breathtaking views. We wished we could have stayed longer and plan to return next summer. A tip for getting there: a direct bus from the train station stops beside the hotel, but it runs only until around dinnertime. The other route goes only partway, then requires a transfer to a smaller bus, which stops around 7 or 8 p.m. Check the schedules, since we visited in August and routes and times may change during the year.

The landscape was a highlight for me. I got to see gorgeous sunrises, a huge moon, and even a thunderstorm that was better than a show in a famous theatre. Nature here is amazing. I stayed for 4 days, and every day I treated myself to the wonderful breakfast and excellent dinner. Christoph is a really good cook, and the vegetables and herbs from his garden make a difference. Most of all, though, Christoph and his mother were amazing hosts. They genuinely looked after me. Thank you for everything!

The restaurant food was really tasty, and the presentation was lovely. Hot dishes came on warm plates, and every piece of cutlery was spotless. Bravo! The whole hotel was immaculate and orderly, not just the rooms. The staff were especially welcoming, and the service was at a level you rarely find, even in much more expensive hotels. I’d gladly come back. For future guests, make time for a walk. There are amazing places very close to the hotel. Thank you!

I’ve stayed in plenty of Swiss hotels, but this one stands out for its service and homely feel. It’s a beautiful mountain chalet hotel with incredible views. My single room had its own balcony overlooking the valleys and mountain tops, which was perfect for me. I was working locally and left at 5am every day. The owners kindly showed me how to use the coffee machine and juice bar before I headed out. They even made me a sandwich to take along since I wasn’t having breakfast each day. The place was pristine, with everything thought of. My room had a sewing kit, shoe-cleaning products, a personal safe, telephone, radio and TV. Walking sticks, newspapers and all sanitary products were available from reception on request. There’s a restaurant on the ground level, plus a lovely first-floor lounge with a piano and several seating areas. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, with Raclette (Cheese) and sides as a Friday evening special. Top class.

Visp is only a short drive away, and getting to the hotel by car was easy. I enjoyed the mountain view from the balcony and looked forward to the excellent breakfast each morning. It was a relaxing, enjoyable stay at the Hotel Alpenblick.
