Chalet Ulysse Zermatt

We had Christmas week at the chalet with our adult children and their wives, seven of us in all. There was plenty of room, and the home was spotless and very well maintained, with Matterhorn views from nearly every room. We spent evenings around a real fire talking and playing games, and there was even a Christmas tree waiting when we arrived. We had fun learning to get around by the free bus and local taxis. The Matterhorn Express Gondola is about a 5 min walk downhill in the morning and takes you nearly to the top of the ski hill. We rented ski lockers at Dorsaz sports, right beside the Gondola, so we didn't have to carry our skis back uphill after a long day. Marilyn, the owner, was the best host I've ever worked with, and I've rented homes all over the world. She was extremely responsive and helpful with the home and our questions about the area, groceries, buses, and restaurants. She also recommended her niece Deborah, a certified ski instructor/guide, and we used her on our first day. Deborah was fantastic too. Marilyn learned it was my birthday on Christmas eve and sent me a lovely gift. The home was exactly as we expected and a perfect place to stay at the base of the Matterhorn for Christmas. I can't say enough good things about the chalet and Marilyn.
