City Stay Apartments Forchstraße

The tram stop right next door makes it easy to get around, but I was concerned about the security of the place. On our first day out, we came back to find a random grocery bag in the room. Someone had been inside, and I had no idea what they might have done. I reported it, sent photos when asked, and left the bag by the entrance door as requested. There was another paper bag of mine in the kitchen, which I moved into the room so it wouldn't be mistaken for the first one. They said housekeeping would collect the reported bag. A couple of days later, it was still by the entrance. We were out each day and only came back to shower and sleep. While packing to check out, I realized my own bag was missing. Housekeeping had entered, left the photographed bag by the front door, and taken my bag from the room, with my French snacks, umbrella, and whatever else was inside. When I contacted the hotel, they tried to blame me, asking whether I hadn't noticed my bag was gone for the last two days. No. I was busy enjoying my trip. I wasn't expecting my things to be taken from the room, and I wasn't doing an inventory every night after coming back exhausted.

I lived at City Stay Forchstrasse for a long time, until I finally found a place of my own, which is difficult in Zurich. My flat was furnished to a good standard, and the service was excellent. Issues were handled quickly, someone was always available by phone, and the cleaning staff responded promptly. The resident caretaker, Mr Novina, was extremely helpful and kind. Angelina, the current City Stay manageress, was also a huge help throughout, especially with my check-out, inventory, deposit, and references, so everything went smoothly. My family visited several times, and Angelina and the team helped arrange extra accommodation for them. Their flats were well maintained, too. The location is very good, with Tram 11 right outside and the lake and Opera house a 15-minute walk away.

The apartment was okay, but mold was very hard to get rid of even with the windows open. Staff didn't respond to me, and they ignored my requests about the security deposit, which still hadn't been returned after more than 20 days. I wouldn't recommend it if you expect excellent apartment service.

The location was fantastic, but we stayed from 28 May to 1 June and had a hard time communicating when problems came up. The owners don't understand English at all, and reception never answered any of our calls. Maintenance was poor, and the owner asked for extra money for further maintenance.
