Hotel Adler Zuerich

Right in the heart of Zürich, Hotel Adler Zürich made for an excellent one-night stay. The room was beautifully decorated and surprisingly roomy for our family of four, and the beds gave me the best sleep I've had in a long time. After our long flight, they let us check in early, then arranged a late checkout the next day, which we really appreciated. The staff were generous and incredibly friendly. We also loved the complimentary water, soft drinks, chocolate, and Christmas cookies. We'd gladly return and recommend it.

The one drawback was no refrigerator in the room, though there was complimentary water and soda in the lobby. The hotel was lovely, with mural-painted rooms and curtains and décor that felt very Suisse. Front desk staff were kind and let us check in early. Breakfast was generous, with lots of fresh food and delicious coffee. The fondue at the restaurant was amazing, so eat there if you can. Great location for exploring. I'd happily stay again and recommend it.

Breakfast was a lovely way to start the day. The restaurant felt like a Swiss mountain house, with traditional wooden tables and chairs and red-and-white tablecloths. The buffet had fruit, bread, cheese, eggs, cereal, and plenty more. Staff offered coffee or tea as we chose a table. Back in the room, we had plenty of room for luggage, jackets, and shoes, and it was bright, clean, and nicely furnished with a lounge chair, small sofa, and desk chair. The spacious bathtub was a real bonus in winter, and the bed and sheets made for cozy, restful nights. We also loved the spiral staircase with its lit chandelier and little Christmas lights on the railings. At reception, we got a friendly greeting and a clear explanation of the hotel and services, plus a lovely bag of Swiss chocolates as a gift. It was a warm, friendly stay in a great old town zurich location, and we'd return and recommend it.

The breakfast buffet felt limited, especially compared with what you tend to get at other hotels these days. Being so central in Zurich's old town is a big plus, and everything was clean with very friendly staff. But there was quite a bit of evening noise from two or three fairly loud bars in the alley beneath my window.
