Hotel St Josef

The location was a real plus, about a 10-minute walk to the city center and lake, with plenty of parking spaces in front. Our room was large and well laid out, though too warm for us and the pillows weren't great. The staff were kind and gave us chocolate and complimentary water, which hadn't been included in the rate. Breakfast was just okay, with limited choices that were mostly savory and no sweets, cakes, or pastries. We booked for New Year's Eve because our usual Zurich hotels were full. I know Zurich is expensive, but 367 CHF felt far too high for the quality and type of hotel. At that price, I usually get a 4-5 star place with more luxury and services, and I've found better for less even in Zurich. I suspect the special New Year's Eve date drove the rate. I wouldn't return, and would book another hotel in advance.

The breakfast room was nice, with plenty to choose from: coffee, tea, bread, cheese, vegetables, pastries, and fruit. At the front desk, we felt at home from check-in. They helped us settle into the room and marked the main places to visit on a map. We picked this hotel for six holiday days because it was close to the city center but still peaceful, and it worked out just as we hoped. The street is down by the university, with mostly students passing by. Our cozy room had everything we needed, including a boiler, tea, milk and sugar, a big TV, and a hairdryer. The shower was great, the views were nice, and the big warm comfortable bed made for excellent rest. We'd gladly stay again and wouldn't look elsewhere next time. Thanks for making our stay so good.

The staff I met, at reception and in the breakfast area, were all really nice and helpful. The room and bathroom were clean and fine, and the buffet was simple but had everything you'd expect from a continental breakfast. It's a pleasant little hotel in a very quiet part of the city. Maybe a bit pricey for three stars, though that's Switzerland, so overall it was okay.

The room was excellent and spotless, and breakfast was great. The front desk service stood out most. I asked about shopping tax refunds in Switzerland and they spent a lot of time looking into the process, printed the documents, and walked me through it in detail. I hadn't expected an answer, since hotel desks often just say they don't know. I stayed for three days and will definitely come back. Thank you!
