Hotel Glockenhof

The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to help. The front desk was great both in person and over email, knowledgeable about the area, and bilingual. We had a very nice stay in a comfortable, clean, and nicely sized room, including the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. The location is great too, close to Old Town and high-end shops. Highly recommended!

We were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and comfortable the room felt. David showed us how to use the coffee machine, which was a really useful addition. He was friendly, polite, helpful, and hardworking, just like Oliver at reception. Oliver checked us in with a smile and professional efficiency, and he and the rest of the reception team greeted us warmly throughout. They shared lots of useful information about Zurich and answered all our questions, including how to get around and where to eat. Breakfast was good, with the usual fare. Peter, our main server, had a sense of humour we Brits appreciated and brought our drinks quickly. We also ate at the restaurant one night and found the food excellent quality and good value, with competitive prices by Zurich standards, which can feel expensive to us Brits. The hotel is perfectly placed, a short walk from the main station and Lake Zurich, and easy to reach the Opera House and other sights on foot. At Christmas it was beautifully decorated. Our stay at Hotel Glockenhof made our first visit to Zurich excellent. Oliver, David, Peter, and the rest of the team did a great job. We’d love to come back.

The family room worked really well for us, with two separate rooms, two toilets and even a triple bunk bed. They’d provided utensils, a full set of toys and bath toiletries too. The location is great, just behind the shopping street and about an 8-10 minute walk from Zurich HB. Breakfast was enough and included hot food, though we would’ve liked more variety. I’d consider staying here again with the kids.

For 500 euro a night, we expected more. The breakfast was underwhelming, with little choice and mediocre quality, and we won’t be staying here again. The photos also don’t match what we found, they look wide-angle or edited. We’d booked a Style room with a balcony and City View, but got a very worn room facing the inner courtyard, with no balcony. When we raised it, the hotel said there was only one room with a balcony. In that case, they shouldn’t advertise it that way. We asked for compensation in the form of a later checkout and got just one extra hour. They wouldn’t budge.
