Hotel Olympia

The receptionist was kind and understanding, and tried to fix things by moving us to a better room. Even so, I wouldn't recommend this place. What we got looked nothing like the photos on booking.com or here. The bathroom smelled of sewage, the bed was wrapped in plastic, and there was no AC or heating, so we had to leave the window open onto a busy, loud street. The floorboards were uneven, the bathroom door was small, and the elevator was even smaller. I was told I'd get a refund and did receive it, but a moment later they tried to charge me four times.

I stayed three nights and only used the room to sleep, with no facilities or extra services. My deposit was still taken and never returned. Staff wouldn't give me a maintenance invoice, damage report, or any written reason, and refused to put me in touch with a manager. Their manner was rude, and it seemed deliberate, especially after they learned I was leaving Zurich the next morning. This wasn't a misunderstanding. It felt like a deceptive practice resembling a deposit scam. The experience badly spoiled what should have been a happy Zurich visit. There's no transparency or accountability here, and I'd strongly warn people not to pay a deposit unless they're prepared to lose it. I won't return and strongly advise others to avoid the place.

We felt at home here, and really enjoyed the stay. The staff were amazing, the rooms were clean, and breakfast was delicious and filling. Five stars.

For Zurich, the price is reasonable, and the location is handy for train stops, shopping centers, and restaurants. The hotel, rooms, beds, and bathroom were all clean. I’d highly recommend it and would book again on my next trip.
