Mama Shelter Zurich

The connecting rooms opened into each other to make a comfortable suite, which worked really well for our family with children. They were modern, cozy, and well cared for, a relaxing place to come back to after exploring. Mama Shelter Zurich was clean and stylish, with a warm welcome from the helpful, friendly staff. It was also reasonably priced for Zurich compared with nearby hotels of similar quality. In Oerlikon, you're just a short walk from the metro and train station, so getting around the city is easy and quick. We had an excellent stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended for families and anyone after a comfortable, stylish place with good transit access.

Vladislav was the highlight, going well beyond what I expect from a 4-star hotel in Europe. The hotel is new and makes a quick trip to central Zurich very convenient. Still, the room design has some safety problems. Water gets through the giant opening in the glass shower enclosure, and the rocking chair is risky in rooms this small. I hit its legs with my feet every day. The sharp metal bed frame is another hazard. With all these hazards, staying here would be challenging for an elderly or disabled person. The rooms look cute, but the functionality is off. These quirks don't outweigh the good parts of our stay.

Mama was well located for public transport, the stay was comfortable, the cleaners did a very good job, and we loved the shower. On arrival the bathroom soap dispenser was broken, but that didn't bother us much. The bigger concern was the door: it had to be shut and banged hard to lock. We didn't know this on our first day and came back to find our room open, so we checked our belongings. Reception explained we needed to push it hard and offered to move us if that still didn't work. We stayed put because it did lock with force, but it was unsettling to leave wondering whether it was secure, and we checked it several times before going out. The young white lady at reception felt less friendly and engaging than the other receptionists, so it was awkward asking her questions. The manager, the man who was teaching them, and the young black lady were very helpful and accommodating. Otherwise, it was a good stay and we'd love to come back to Mama when we're in Switzerland again.

From my 12th-floor window the view was amazing, and the room had a huge bed, TV, and shower bathroom. It was comfortable and cozy, with security well organized. Key cards controlled entry to the hotel areas and rooms, which made me feel safe. Breakfast had plenty of options and was unlimited at no extra charge; dinner cost extra. The location was very convenient and walkable. Nearby were Coop Supermarkt City Zürich Oerlikon, ALDI Suisse, SPAR, Halk Pazari Oerlikon, Coop Supermarkt Zürich Eleven, Fresh Shop Supermarkt Seebach, Neumarkt Oerlikon, and Center Eleven, plus a Starbucks right beside the hotel. I had a great stay at Mama Shelter Zurich.
