Hotel Seehof

Alex and Anna made everything easy and were fantastic. Two of our three rooms were upgraded, which was wonderful. We only stayed one night, and I regret not staying longer. I’d recommend the hotel and would stay here again if I return to Zurich.

The location is great, with the train station close by, the lake next door, and downtown nearby. But our room was so hot during our stay because there’s no AC. We paid $400 and were miserable. Be careful about booking in summer. They’re also very stingy with cancellations: even though the cancellation policy was on their website, they still argued with us when we tried to cancel because it was too hot to stay.

Isabella welcomed us, explained everything we needed to know, and was kind and helpful. Sabrina was lovely too. The hotel is central but quiet, and the room, while on the small and cozy side, was nicely designed. There’s no AC, so we had two fans for the hot nights. Breakfast was nice, especially the coffee. I just wish there had been slippers in the room.

Mr Thomas Trojer went out of his way to explain things and sort them out for me. I really appreciated it, thank you, sir. Aside from that, this stay left me wondering about the hotel’s management. The area is reasonably accessible, but staff attitudes were unacceptable in several situations. The room’s daily supplies, including tea bags, tissues, and soap, weren’t replenished. The small cafe also serves as the lobby and reception, which I actually found unique. On arrival I was told it closed at 10pm, but when I tried to order coffee at 8pm the next day, a staff member said it was closed and pointed me to a place across the road. Breakfast was meant to run until 10am, which already seemed early. I saw a family turned away at 9.45am, and the staff member again pointed across the road. At breakfast myself, I waited to be seated and was told to just go and enjoy. After I’d picked some items and sat down, a bald-headed man came over about 10 minutes later and loudly demanded my room number while I was eating. Only in Switzerland!
