The room was cold throughout our stay. The heating barely worked, so it never felt comfortable. It also hadn’t been properly cleaned before we arrived: there were hairs from previous guests on the shelves, furniture, and in the bathroom. The listing on Booking showed bright, spacious rooms with large panoramic windows. Instead, we got a basement room with ground-level windows facing pedestrians’ legs and car wheels. Calling that a “room with windows” feels false. It’s a completely different kind of accommodation, and the photos and description don’t reflect what we found. The stay felt like a deliberate attempt to mislead guests. I’d strongly advise people to avoid this hotel unless they’re fine with a cold, dirty basement room that looks nothing like the listing.

Getting connected with their agent each time can cost you 30 minutes, so brace yourself. The automated process is handled badly, and it makes the whole experience frustrating. There’s no AC, so expect to sweat at night. Breakfast was a bag with porridge, a banana, an apple, and a couple of croissants, with no meat, cheese, or vegetables. I guess I’m not the target audience. Definitely not worth the price.

I stayed three nights and had no trouble getting into the building or room with the PIN. The kitchen was well equipped, and there’s an iron available in the building, though not in the room. A nearby bar made some noise at night, but closing the windows kept it out. There’s a fan, but no AC. That wasn’t an issue for me, though it might be in the height of summer. The white tiled floor could feel too cold for some in winter.

It’s handy for walking to the city center, and runners can get to the Limmat riverside quickly by going under the train tracks. There’s even a spot nearby designated for swimming. The room was clean and comfortable for the nightly price compared with other city options. I liked the complimentary drinks, coffee capsules, and tea bags, and there was enough shelving for clothes. The little kitchen was useful, though it was short on cutlery. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The tiles were good quality but didn’t make the floor feel especially cozy. With the windows shut, the room was pleasantly quiet, and there’s a fan if it gets warm. The bathroom has a compact shower, sink, and toilet. It works fine, but it isn’t soundproof, so sharing the room means being at ease with your companion.

The location is walkable to the train station and tourist spots, though the area has bars open late and can get noisy. We were in a corner room with plenty of windows and natural light. Automatic blinds and curtains help block it out when it’s time to sleep. Numa Hotels don’t have visible staff. You get a code the day before arrival to enter the building and your room. I didn’t like the lighting setup: the ceiling light was too bright, and the switches were awkwardly placed. The bathroom switch is by the room entrance, and because the bathroom walls are frosted glass, turning on the light at night lights up the whole room. USB ports were also missing.
