Hotel Sternen Oerlikon

We had a great time here over seven nights. The staff were pleasant, kind, and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was amazing, with lots of choices. The room was clean and comfortable, though small, as seems to be the case everywhere in Europe. The location was the biggest draw: trams and trains were easy to reach, and there were plenty of good restaurants nearby.

There’s a restaurant and bar at the hotel, and the rooms are good. My one gripe was the lack of any USB charging points. Most hotel rooms I’ve stayed in have at least four. It’s a tram ride from the hustle and bustle, so it’s not right in the heart of Zurich.

For a three-star hotel, it exceeded our expectations on a business trip. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast had a nice range of food. Staff were top notch, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The slow internet was the only thing that bothered us. We came by car and were able to get a space, thanks to the hotel staff. Parking costs 20 CHF per night and spaces are limited, so let the hotel know in advance.

After a long 12-hour flight, I arrived in the heat and the hotel wouldn’t honor my reservation. I’d accidentally booked the wrong day because of time zone confusion, but I had to pay almost double for another room. For two months I tried to reach them, starting that same night, and they didn’t respond. Now they say it’s “too late” to resolve. Their handling felt heartless, like they were taking advantage of a foreign traveler in a difficult situation. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. They showed no concern for their customers.
