The hotel was quiet at night, which felt like a small miracle. I booked it for its central location and hadn't expected four-star service, but the staff really impressed me. The receptionist helped me arrange a taxi and spoke with me in English. Thank you, miss, you were a lifesaver twice. I also needed a Chilean phone SIM so I could keep in touch with family and friends in Concepción and Santiago. The security guard helped me open my phone, which saved me from breaking a nail, haha. My only complaint was mold in the shower. Thanks to everyone at the hotel, you were amazing.

The staff were friendly and the food was good. It's an older hotel near downtown, and the rooms could use updating.

The highlight for us was how the kitchen handled breakfast. We asked on arrival if vegan choices could be arranged for our three mornings, and they provided them each day: vegan milk, bread, avocado, tomatoes, mushrooms, and other little extras. A special thanks to the kitchen team. The reception also arranged a taxi for 8 a.m. Sunday, and it was there on time. The room was clean and comfortable, though dated, and had what we needed. It was humid and chilly in the city at that time of year, and there was no room heating, but we stayed warm in bed. The safe wasn't working; I didn't ask reception about it and chose not to use it. There was no laundry service during our stay, and with the city's humidity, clothes simply wouldn't air-dry. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a pleasant stay. It's a basic place without many recent renovations, but the service and breakfast made a good impression.

A bit worn, but that elevator is spectacular.

Breakfast was already running low when we went down after 9:30, and the bread choices were pretty limited, just small cocktail rolls and sliced whole wheat. There were only two bath towels and one hand towel for the three of us. The bathroom sign asked guests to hang towels up to reuse them, but drying them is hard without natural ventilation. The hotel is old, and while the common areas are nice, the rooms we had facing the inner terrace had no natural airflow. A very noisy fan barely helped with the heat. The hallways were stuffy too, and both rooms and corridors were poorly lit. Cleaning was mediocre, and the carpets smelled damp and stale. The mattresses sagged, and the bathroom was only okay, with old plumbing. For the price, it wasn't worth it. I wouldn't stay again even if they cut the rates.
