The view of volcano Lonquimay right outside was beautiful, and Piedra Santa is just 400 meters away. The lodge is family run, and the owners live onsite. They were kind and responsive, even when I arrived close to midnight, and helped with my luggage. It’s about a 25-minute drive to the ski resort. Breakfast costs $6 USD extra and includes eggs, toast with spreads, cheese, and a granola bar, handy if you want to get to the slopes at opening time. Starlink internet was fast and steady enough for video calls. The cabin was a charming, comfortable base for a few days of skiing and exploring, though less suited to a longer stay. My radiator didn’t work the first night, and the shower drain is angled awkwardly, so water pools away from it. The communal kitchen lacked some basics like bowls and a drying rack, and the thin wooden walls mean you can hear other guests.

The family running Hotel Piedra Hostel were incredibly sweet and kind, and took such good care of us. Their hearty breakfast was just what we needed to start each day. The rustic hotel has breathtaking views of Volcán Lonquimay, and at night the sky is stunning, with some of the best Milky Way views. We had a great time and found it a cozy, peaceful place to get away from everything in nature, a real home away from home.

We only stayed one night, but it was such a cozy, cute place. It’s family run, and they made a great breakfast that felt like home. I’d definitely recommend it.

Violeta, Marigel, and their nephew Gabino run Piedra Santa Hostel, and their hospitality was wonderful. They give you everything they have, and even things they don’t! Marigel makes a delicious homemade hot dog 😋 and even made me a sopaipilla when I mentioned I was craving one. THANK YOU ❤️ Marcelo and Miriam will be back soon.

The owner was so attentive and friendly, and the place is beautifully maintained and super clean. Breakfast was all homemade, and everything was delicious, especially the rolls. It’s only a few blocks from Desplayado beach and the town center. The mattresses were incredibly comfortable and the Wi-Fi was great. I’ve stayed at several 5-star hotels, and Piedra Santa is just as good. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you, Miguel, for everything!
