The grounds were lovely, and the room was very nice. I especially enjoyed sitting by the river and just relaxing.

We had a wonderful stay, and I hope to come back soon. The hotel is beautifully designed and decorated, with trees and lush greenery all around, almost like its own little forest. We stayed in a spacious standard room in the lodge. Some villas sit apart from the lodge, offering a bit more privacy and a full forest view. The room had good heating for winter and A/C for warmer weather. Exploring the property was lovely, and the private hot tub with a view was a highlight. You can reserve it. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and I'd definitely recommend the place.

Sofi and Aylin at reception were always attentive, and Diego in the kitchen was especially clever and caring. Chef Juan Carlos was friendly, too. The staff were every bit as lovely and helpful as people say, and the service made us feel like we were in a king's palace. The food was delicious, and the hotel was like a quiet, green garden Eden. It was an unforgettable stay, 10/5 stars. A friend from Pucon recommended it, and it was worth the investment. Thanks again!

The setting at Rakau Lodge is gorgeous, and the grounds are modern, peaceful, and well cared for. The food was excellent and the hotel's design superb, but I felt the place was missing some soul. On our first night, we were the only two guests, yet the owner and chef didn't come out to talk to us at dinner. For such a small hotel, we missed the personal touch we expected. There were a few things that kept it from feeling like a five-star stay. Our door didn't close all the way, and there wasn't much sound insulation, so we could hear everything from the lobby and hallway. If you want to use the hot tub, book well ahead. We were told they drain it after each guest, refill it, and heat it with wood, which takes time. I wish we'd been told about that process beforehand so we could reserve a slot. We couldn't use it. We were also charged for the room up front, then charged again at checkout for incidentals. As a foreign traveler, I had to pay a credit fee twice, which was unusual. The front desk didn't seem concerned, and we felt the whole bill should have been settled at the end, as at most resorts and hotels.
