Hostal Mamatierra

The breakfast was really great, and the hostel is clean and cosy. It's quiet, but still within walking distance of the main street. I couldn't give it five stars because the dorm rooms don't have curtains, and you can't have a beer in the common area. I'd also suggest booking somewhere with a swimming pool, since Atacama can get really hot.

I stayed one night in the mixed dorm with a private bathroom, then four nights in a mixed dorm with a shared bathroom. Room No11 was the best, both for its facilities and because I had just one roommate that night. The other four nights were okay, though one roommate snored badly, and another arrived late after drinking too much and vomited as soon as he got into bed. LOL, that's not the hostal's fault. The sheets were clean and the bed was made every day. The toilet and bathroom were clean too, though the bathroom was tiny and the floor got wet. The staff were nice and friendly :)

I loved the place and spent 6 nights there. The patio is super cute, the room was clean, and the staff were really friendly and could help book tours. It's an easy walk to San Pedro's main streets, with a convenience store just meters away. Breakfast was really good, and they offered to pack it for us when we went on a tour.

The staff at Mamatierra were great, always smiling, ready to help guests, and flexible. The place was very clean and quiet, with a good location a few minutes from the city center and bus station.
