The check-in was the one part that really went wrong. Nobody was there to greet us, staff didn't seem to be communicating, and the WiFi password wasn't easy to find. The one on the wall was incorrect, and Airbnb had different wrong information. When we first arrived, I felt we might be in a dangerous situation. That shouldn't have happened. Once we were settled, though, I was very satisfied. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, a few km from town. You can see ruins from the breezy, cool porch in the day, and it gets completely dark at night, so the stars are right there. Compared with places in town, I found this hostel much better: it's spacious, and the grove of trees was great for my daughter to play in and helped keep things cool. There's no official taxi service, but a local WhatsApp group can connect you with rides. I had pretty good luck at all hours, including very early tour pickups, and the drivers were respectful. The area is remote and WiFi can be spotty generally, but the hostel's connection was strong. I worked remotely and had several video meetings every day. The kitchen had plenty of supplies, the lounge was super cute, and the cleaning lady did an amazing job.
