Hostal La Florida - Hostel

The kitchen was far too small for several guests to cook at once, and the toilets were tiny, unhygienic, and so narrow my knees hit the door. I never felt at ease in the cramped dorms. The Wi-Fi was practically unusable, and there was no peace: loud music from the bar next to the rooms blared until three in the morning. The doors didn't close properly, and the lounge right in front of the dorm made the noise even worse. I also felt my belongings weren't safe, since the doors were open and the lockers weren't in the room, leaving valuables unprotected. This was my worst hostel stay. I wouldn't recommend it, and I don't think the Hostelworld reviews reflect reality.

The Wi-Fi didn't work once during my stay. Whenever we asked, staff said it would be fixed tomorrow, but it never was. There are no lockers in the rooms, and you can't lock the room doors. The only lockers are in the lobby, which doesn't help when you want to secure your things. The receptionist was often away from the desk, so anyone could walk into the hostel. A random man did just that, came into our room, and stole things. As a woman, I felt disgusted and incredibly unsafe when I later learned a stranger had gone through my bag. The receptionist knew the man had apparently stolen from the hostel before, but let him go without saying anything and even gave him a high-five on the security footage. When we spoke to the owner, he quickly shifted from polite to aggressive and threatening. He made things worse instead of trying to solve the problem. The hostel felt unsafe, with no security and staff absent, and the owner's response was hostile. One of the worst places I've stayed. I absolutely don't recommend it.

For the price, there are easily better options. Breakfast is included, but nothing special, and it isn't worth the money. The dorms are extremely cramped for six people. You can't lock the doors, and the lockers are in the middle of the hostel, which feels unsafe. The Wi-Fi never works, and they keep saying it'll work tomorrow to avoid dealing with it. The owner is rude and aggressive when you bring up problems. I wouldn't recommend this hostel.
