Hotel Casa Zañartu

Charming hotel in a good location, with a large, comfortable room, a good shower, and a pleasant outdoor terrace to sit on. There’s a fridge down the hall, handy for drinks and leftovers. The restaurant food was delicious and the service great. On Sunday evening when I arrived, all the nearby restaurants were closed, but a super-friendly staff member went out of her way to help me find food. My only complaint is the instant coffee at breakfast!

The rooms, staff, food, atmosphere, and convenient location were excellent. It’s a charming vintage hotel, once the grand home of the Zañartu family, with modest prices and clean, comfortable rooms that are definitely no frills. I had two complaints about breakfast: it was good, but the free coffee was instant, so I paid for cappuccinos each day and they were delicious. Also, the bath mats were the strangest and ugliest I’ve ever seen, skimpy and the opposite of spa-like luxury. Maybe they resist germs especially well or hold up to hotel laundry, but there must be some reason they stock them.

A very cute hotel near the cultural district, with lots of great restaurants just a short walk away. Bella Vista is a bit further on foot, but definitely try to visit this little food village. The staff were very friendly. I also appreciated that they locked the front with a steel door later in the evening, which made me feel more comfortable and safe so close to the heart of everything.

The people at reception were very nice and accommodating, but the self-called manager chef was extremely rude and handled my simple request for a glass of milk with very bad manners. Our room was cold, and the small heater definitely wasn’t enough for its size. We thought being in the center and somewhat close to the Moneda would be a good option, but there were basically no good restaurants or things to do around, and the surroundings looked pretty unsafe. The only night we parked on the street, someone stole a mirror from our car. We definitely won’t come back.
