We were happy staying here, even in our 60s. The included breakfast was amazing, and the staff welcomed our feedback and said they'd look into the poor air conditioning. We had to carry our bags up one flight because there's no elevator, but that was no problem. Our room was very comfortable, though the safe was already locked and unavailable. The bathroom and bedroom are separated by glass, which was fine for a couple. We overlooked a restaurant and nightclub plaza, so it was noisy until 3am on Friday and Saturday, especially Friday. Sunday night was quiet. We were tired enough to sleep anyway. Other rooms face a quiet street. It's close to the zoo and funicular. We enjoyed happy hour and a meal at BLS in the plaza. There are security guards there, and the gates to the street close at night, so it felt like a safe area. Finding the place on arrival was a little hard since there's no street sign and only a small sign inside the plaza. Go through the gate at the Google Maps pin and ask someone where it is. It's also the pickup point for the fabulous Valparaiso day trip.

Cecilia made breakfast each morning, with fresh fruit and tomato bruschetta, and was warm and friendly. The reception staff were kind and welcoming too. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. Patio Bellavista has lots of places to eat and things to do, and it is closed off and guarded at night. The hotel's balcony area felt forgotten. There should be two bars, but they seemed to have been closed for a while, with dust settled everywhere and little happening there in the evenings. The area around Patio Bellavista also felt less safe after dark. During our stay, there was a gang assassination at 3 AM, just 50 meters from our window, which was unsettling. We wouldn't recommend walking outside the complex after dark. Our time at Hotel Hip Santiago – Patio Bellavista had good points, especially the daytime location and service, but the lack of evening atmosphere at the hotel and the safety concerns nearby made nighttime exploration less appealing.

I spent a couple of weekend nights at hip hotel and was blown away by the staff. The room was very clean, with a huge, comfortable bed, and breakfast was delicious. There was as much tea, coffee, and juice as I wanted. The location is great, near some good restaurants. I got scammed out of 1000000 peso by a taxi driver, totally my fault, and my bag with all my fly fishing gear didn't arrive at the airport. My head was fried. After her shift, Izabela spent a few hours helping me get my phone working so I could call the bank and put a hold on my cards, then went with me to the police station to help translate. She's an angel. Lucas and Sebastian did everything they could to help with my phone and locate the bag, then drove me to the airport when it finally arrived. Absolute gents. I've seen earlier complaints about communication, but I find that patience and respect usually help when someone you're speaking with doesn't have English as their first language. I've traveled and lived all over the world. I don't speak Spanish, so I expect language barriers in a country where English isn't the spoken language. That seems like basic common courtesy to me.

I checked into hotel Hip yesterday and left within an hour. It was awful and very disappointing. The bed was only half made, with just a bottom sheet, the WiFi didn't work, and there was NO hot water. After I splashed cold water on myself, I dried off with a bathroom towel and a few hours later found a rash where it had touched my skin. A rash! This was one of the worst experiences of my life. The girl working there couldn't do anything without telling the boss, who was impossible to reach and didn't reply. Do not book this place.

I booked directly with the hotel and showed up today for my reservation, but their phone was disconnected and the hotel appeared to be closed. Somehow they're still accepting reservations online.
