Casa Emilia

The staff treated us well, but everything else made this the worst experience I've had. Our bed had dirty, stained sheets, and I attached photos. The supposed hot water was just a cold trickle. We couldn't sleep because something, maybe fleas or mosquitoes, was biting us badly. The mattress also left its springs pressed into my back.

I came wanting to see the place because of its history as once the best hotel in Valparaíso, but not much of that past is left beyond some architecture and a few interior spaces. The shower worked fine and the mattress was clean, but it was old and the bed was uncomfortable. We were given only one and a half towels for two people, and the service wasn't good. I don't think I'll return or recommend it unless there's absolutely nowhere else to stay, like in an emergency.

It's expensive, and I found the place uninhabitable. The beds are bad, and the bathrooms and showers are unhygienic. There's no kitchen, and they charge you for hot water. Flies are everywhere, and they spray insecticide into the air, so it was impossible to breathe. TERRIBLE. I'd only suggest staying there for one night in an emergency.

The only downside for me was having to share the bathrooms. Otherwise, the place was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms kept noise out really well. The location by the port was convenient and quiet, and the service was super friendly. They also sell breakfast. A very good experience.
