We chose La Flor for its spot at the bottom of Cerro Concepcion, near Cerro Verde, small restaurants, and galleries. The port is close, and we walked most places. We took an Uber to Neruda's house, though walking there is possible if you're up for a climb. It's a great town, and I regret not seeing Isla Negra. Katy mapped out an itinerary for our first day, which we appreciated. She gave us maps, and the front office had a rail card we could load for the coastal train to Mar del Plata, where you can see La Quinta Vergara. Everyone on staff was very helpful and offered recommendations. We stayed three nights in early February. I'd planned the trip for six months and kept in touch after booking to make sure everything was set. The owners, Anne and Alex, came to meet us and told us how their dream of the place came about. Our port view suite had a terrace and corner windows that let in lots of light. Anne and Alex also have a farm, and together with the hotel's lush garden it supplies ingredients for breakfast. We're vegetarians, and I told Anne it was the best breakfast I'd ever had, for my taste. You pick how you want your eggs made fresh, and Anne bakes a cake each day. Alex is an agronomist working on a major restoration project for the endemic Chilean Palm. There was information about it on a table. Anne has two mischievous donkeys who are featured in a book. Alex also ran an ecolodge in the Peruvian Amazon and knows a lot about Peru and Chile.

The owners were so hospitable, they made it feel like we could use the hotel as a second home. The garden is one of the best in Valparaiso, and you can see the sea from it. Possibly one of the best hotels I've stayed at. If you've found this place, I'd book it without searching any further.

The owners and staff were so attentive that they made this charming place feel one of a kind, and they offset a few drawbacks. There isn't a TV, storage for clothes is limited, toilet paper can't be flushed, and hot water can take up to five minutes in the morning. The service and setting are exceptional. This small boutique hotel has a bed and breakfast feel, in a completely remodeled former mansion. The owners saved and incorporated many personalized touches from the original building. Gardens and sitting areas outside have harbor views, and breakfast is outstanding. It's also well placed for exploring Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepcion.

The staff were caring, attentive, and went out of their way with city recommendations. Camila in particular was so considerate and helpful, and we really appreciated everything she did. The hotel was lovely: clean, nicely decorated, and homey. Our room smelled great and had a very good ocean view. The garden was gorgeous, and breakfast was great.

The owner even opened the kitchen before sunrise so I could have coffee and snacks before an early trip to San Antonio. She had also arranged safe transportation for me, which I appreciated. I had no reservation because I was in Chile for work, but they welcomed me with open arms and found me a room right away. The owner and whole staff were exceptionally kind and took care of every detail. From the start, I felt special. They welcomed me with a pisco sour, showed me around the hotel, explained its details, and suggested tourist spots to visit in my free time. The facilities were immaculate and well organized, with an elegant, cozy design that made me feel at home. The terrace and garden were charming places to relax with a glass of wine or coffee in the fresh air and peaceful surroundings. The rooms have the bohemian, historic character of Valparaíso, with vintage elegance and modern comfort. Their design honors the city's artistic and architectural heritage while keeping things cozy and relaxing. The hotel is beautiful and peaceful, and the genuine care made my stay unforgettable. It balances elegance with the comfort of home. I'll definitely come back.
