Hotel Manoir Atkinson

Marcelo and Gloria were such helpful, friendly hosts, and breakfast each morning came with a view of the usual Valparaiso fog hanging over much of the city. The hotel cat spends the day near the front desk and dining room, like it owns the place! The building is beautiful and historic, the room was comfortable, and breakfast was included. The setting above Plaza Aníbal Pinto is fantastic, beside a lookout over the ocean, port, and city all around you. Restaurants, cafes, and little museums in the safer, more touristy area are five minutes uphill; old bars and cafes in the grittier area are five minutes downhill. I can't recommend it enough.

The rooftop and semi-private patio are lovely spots to relax, take in the culture, and enjoy wide views across the city. Our hosts were informative and accommodating, and Marcello and Gloria made us feel very well looked after. The room was clean and nicely equipped, with comfortable linens. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, a great start to the day. Everything was perfect, and we'd highly recommend staying here. Thank you!

The street gets noisy, with people and dogs, and I imagine that's the case wherever you stay in Valparaiso. Closing the windows at night is probably best. Our room was clean and well kept, with a nice ocean view, and sitting on the terrace was very relaxing when we had the chance. Claudio is exactly as people say: genuine, helpful, and full of good tips for enjoying your time.

The rooftop has amazing views, and the location in Concepción is fantastic. This lovely old house has been turned into a boutique hotel, and Marcel and his wife, the owners, are friendly and know their stuff. They also prepare excellent food. Highly recommend staying here!
