The lounge is a really good place to work if you need a workspace, and it’s handy that there are washing machines too. Supermarkets and restaurants are an easy walk away. It’s a nice hotel in a good spot at the Sheung Wan end of Hollywood Road. The rooms are clean and laid out well, and the staff are very helpful. Works well for business or leisure.
The hotel’s access is awkward if you have luggage, since you have to carry your bags up about ten steps before reaching the elevator. The sound insulation is poor too, so a noisy neighbour can make it hard to get a good night’s sleep. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel. The main problem happened around midnight on the night my friend and I checked in. The air conditioning stopped cooling and blew warm air instead. In the sealed room, the temperature went above 30°C and it felt like an oven. There was no front desk staff available, only a security guard. We had to communicate through a tablet on the desk, and service was only in English. That was disappointing because the hotel says it offers Cantonese and Mandarin service. Eventually, the tablet message said the only option was to move to a room with one large bed. They offered no other solution or compensation.
There’s plenty to explore nearby, and check-in was easy. I’ve extended my stay several times and could keep the same room, which was convenient. Penny and Samuel helped me check in at the lounge, where I could do laundry.
There was black mold along the apartment edges and water leaking from the window. When we first checked in, the room hadn’t been cleaned at all, with hair on the blankets and dust on the lamp and in the corners. We didn’t feel safe or treated like guests, especially with the mold and lack of proper cleaning. This was probably the worst hotel we’ve stayed in. We were there for seven nights and sometimes got towels, sometimes didn’t. There’s no phone in the room to call the concierge, so we had to go downstairs. They said towels would take ten minutes; I waited in the room and nothing arrived, so my partner went down again and got them himself. The next day, there were no towels again. There was only ONE working elevator too. We paid $1450 HKD/night for this service. I hate leaving a one-star review, but people should know what the living conditions were like. Don’t be fooled by the online marketing. See the photos yourselves.
We had no running water throughout the stay and couldn’t even flush the toilet. The staff seemed pretty apathetic and just gave us a plastic bucket to flush with. The bed was terrible, and the room was tiny. I was promised a refund, but my stay at the Dash Living had already been frustrating and frankly disgusting. Trying to get that refund has been just as bad. I’ve spent hours speaking with different agents every few days, and none seem able to help. The hotel gave us such poor service onsite, then seemed to do everything to avoid processing the refund I was promised. Extremely frustrating. Don’t stay here.
