I contacted Everest Base Cam Hostel more than a month before my stay, trying by email, through the booking website, and by phone. I never got a reply through any channel, and still don't have an answer. Communication with guests should be the bare minimum. This was horrifying.

The smell was awful, and cleanliness was basically nonexistent. The room was so tiny and dirty it felt like being in a restroom, and honestly my bathroom at home is much better. There was hair on the sink and moisture on the walls. Disgusting.

The mold smell was so bad I was gagging, and the stained blanket and see-through towels made the room disgusting. The staff weren’t friendly, and I didn’t feel safe. I usually try to tough things out, but I left before my stay was over. They refused to refund me. Do not stay here.

The only real positive was the woman at reception, who was helpful when we checked in late. The place was hard to find, the room was tiny and dirty, the shower leaked, and there were cockroaches everywhere. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Pay a little more for somewhere better.

No hot water in my room, and the beds looked nothing like they did in the photos. This place was absolutely horrible. I’d recommend staying somewhere else.
