Warwick Hotel

We chose a small hill-view room with a bathtub. It was cozy, and both the tub and bathroom were clean. The hotel also has beach-view rooms and family rooms. Its hillside entrance takes a two-minute climb, then the lobby is ten staircases down. From the Cheung Chau ferry pier, it's about a ten-minute walk: follow the path to tung wan beach and the hotel is on the right, hard to miss. The setting is beautiful. Near reception there's a little seating area facing the beach, alongside the restaurant "the cave". Staff were welcoming, spoke English, and the hospitality was good. Breakfast didn't offer many choices, but what was available tasted good. As a vegetarian I managed with coffee, tea, toast, butter, jam, and salad. You can also hike to mini wall from there, an easy-to-find, nice family walk. The pictures can show the rest.

There isn't a huge choice of hotels on the island, but you can get off the island and stay elsewhere instead of putting your health at risk. This place was already overpriced for its age and what it offers, even if it had been clean. With mould in the room and hair on the bedsheets, the price is ridiculous. The night-shift front desk was rude. DO NOT STAY HERE!

It's a quiet island with bicycles and a welcome break from the city. Getting here from Hong Kong Station takes either 23 minutes or an hour, depending on the ferry. The stay might work for one night if you want to watch sunrise from your room window. The room was comfortable enough, but the shower sprayed everywhere except on me. They provided a kettle, though you had to buy water, and there was no bath plug. The tap water was strongly chlorinated. Breakfast was minimal, with one overworked woman who wouldn't make an omelette because it was too much trouble. Staff generally came across as cold and uninterested.

We had some wonderful moments here, enjoying the sea view at Seaview Cafe over tea or coffee. The pizza and sandwiches were delicious, and it's a great spot for lunch or tea while listening to the waves. The hotel is easy to reach from the pier, the service was efficient and friendly, and the room was nice and clean.
