The location is handy, with the metro right outside and Avenue of the Stars just a few minutes on foot. But the building felt dodgy in places, and I didn’t feel very safe. We were asked to post a positive trip.com review in exchange for storing our luggage, though I still wanted to give an honest account. Our first room was awful: clearly not cleaned, hair stuck on the walls, stained sheets, a wet bed, and so little space that we couldn’t properly get inside. They moved us after we complained, and the second room was better, but still very dirty. It smelled of cigarettes and food coming through the vents, and it was noisy. The towels were stained and full of holes; the walls and bedding were stained too, the bedding had holes, and there was lots of hair on the bed. It’s a shame there are so few alternatives for cheap accommodation in Hong Kong, since these places seem to have such a monopoly. It was a pretty horrible stay. I’d only recommend it if your budget leaves you with no other choice.

We booked three nights and left after just one. The room was small and dirty, the bathroom tiny and clogged. Although we’d booked a twin room, they said none were available and wanted an extra 600 HKD for one night in a larger room, plus a credit card fee. Since it was already late in the day, we felt we had no choice. They also say they charge for calling about problems after 11 p.m., such as a key that doesn’t work. It’s terrible to think you might not be able to get in if something goes wrong. I’ve seen lots of Google reviews saying the host asks for good reviews in return for discounts or room upgrades, so be mindful before booking. Better to spend a little more and stay somewhere else.

They were very accommodating and check-in was easy. I’d recommend it to other tourists from my country.

The receptionist was really friendly and accommodating, and they responded quickly. The hallway was well lit, and there was no smoke smell like at chungking mansion.
