Hong Kong Co-living Space, Kowloon Youth Village

I left feeling badly misled by the online listing for Kowloon Youth Village. I booked 6 nights online at 312 NTD$ per night, 2115.45 NTD $ total, but the owner demanded another 316 HKG in cash on arrival for cleaning and other charges. He was aggressive about getting the money and said it had to be paid before check-in. When I objected, he told me to take it up with the website. I was desperate and eventually paid, though the charge seemed unnecessary. I also asked for a single room because I was uncomfortable sharing a mixed dorm with men and women, but that never happened, so I left and found a cheaper place onsite. I didn't get a refund for the 316 HKG even though I never stayed and didn't use the cleaning service, and my booking refund was refused too. The owner was rude and disrespectful, and offered a single room only if I paid more. The receipt says NO REFUNDABLE. I even went to the police for help with a refund and to the post office to report it, but nobody wanted to take up the case. While I was photographing the receipt, the owner closed the charge, as shown in the photo I planned to share as proof. The listing also didn't give a flat number in a 16-floor building, and its description didn't make clear what “mixed dorm” meant. I had to rely on a local person to identify the flat. On the 3rd floor of Chung King Mansions, the place is called Kowloon YOUTH Village Tsim Sha Tsui Kowloon Youth Village. It was a shared 10-bed dorm, not the twin room shown in the advertisement. I felt the listing was false, and that the owner's attitude showed no respect for other people's cultures or human beings. He said mixed men and women shouldn't be a problem and I should check in. I had been excited as a student to visit HKG for a holiday, and this was what I experienced. I have nothing to gain from a bad review, Allah knows. Call it a scammer if you want, or judge for yourself. I hardly ever rely on other people's reviews, but I've learned my lesson and don't want others to overlook them. Be aware and read the reviews before deciding. I rate it Zero square.

The hygiene, privacy, comfort, and front desk service were among the worst I've experienced in any hotel. I paid ahead, then was made to pay 70% of the room charge again at the time of my stay. Beware, this felt like a rip-off.

The staff were rude and one started screaming when I only asked a question, as if I were picking a fight. They charged extra for nothing, and there was no toilet even though the app said there was one. When I said I was moving to another hotel, they refused a refund. We also had to empty the rooms in the morning for reasons that made no sense. Worst guesthouse ever, don't book here 😡😡👹...

This was the worst place I've stayed. I dropped the booking and found somewhere else.
