Yitel Premium Shanghai People Square Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street Shop

We stayed four nights and had an awesome experience. The room was spacious and clean, and the front desk was friendly. A special mention to Alex Zhang Cun(Zhang Zai）, whose service and attitude were awesome. He patiently and attentively helped me with my airline check-in and seat reservation issue. His sunny working attitude really made my day. I’ll stay here again when I’m back in Shanghai. Thank you, Alex.

There’s a Familymart only a few minutes’ walk away, and the hotel is in a great location. The staff are nice and can communicate in English. My room was a good size and clean, though the view was of the abandoned building next door. I kept the sheer curtain closed the whole stay, and the room felt a bit too dark for me. The walk from the elevators to my room was super far, along a sloped hallway with a floor rug, which made handling luggage difficult.

Getting around Shanghai was easy from this central spot. Yitel Premium Hotel sits beside Nanjing Road Walking Street, with food, shops, and activity until 10 PM. Metro stations, taxis/Didi, and the hop-on-hop-off bus stop were all convenient. The hotel is in a beautiful 1920s heritage building that’s been renovated with modern rooms. I stayed in room 8707, an executive room with a massage chair. It was behind the main area and actually on level 7, not 8. Anyone who needs help walking should ask for a room near the lift lobby to avoid stairs. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and cheerful. I noticed some noise from doors slamming nearby, so the soundproofing could be better. Smoke smell also came into our room overnight through the air duct, but they fixed it the next day. Overall, I was comfortable and the service was great.

The location works well for tourists, and the rooms were basically clean. We booked two rooms, though one had a broken toilet lock and the other a clogged toilet bowl. WiFi was available but useless, since neither room could connect to anything. The housekeeper wasn’t very polite.
