Eco Hotel Las Palmas

The grounds were nicely cared for, with plantain palms and other tropical plants, and the staff were lovely. We enjoyed the good food, too. Eco Hotel Las Palmas feels rural, even though it's close to Armenia, and there are plenty of good day trips within an hour. The amenities are simple and typical for the region. We loved our stay.

We were six families traveling through Colombia. The staff were extremely friendly and breakfast was amazing, but the lack of air conditioning made the nights miserably hot. One friend's room had no hot water, and my sister found a couple of roaches in hers.

The bathroom wasn't clean, and the bedding was awful. The sheets looked unwashed, the blankets smelled, and I saw stains that looked like pee. There was all kinds of animal hair under the blankets. I can't imagine how dirty breakfast must be.

The people were very nice, and breakfast and service were great, but I wouldn't stay again. There were cracks in lots of parts of the room, so lizards and bugs could get in easily; ants and cobwebs were all over inside. Giant banana spiders were everywhere outside by reception, which could be rough if you're afraid of them. The hotel felt like poor value for the price. Some beds were really hard, and the Wi-Fi was pretty weak. No AC or shampoo is expected for a rustic “eco” stay, but if bugs make you squeamish, don't come here.
