For the price, it was average. Bring your own washcloths, since they don’t provide any. We liked the breakfast buffet, rooftop area, pool, and the views. But both times we went up, the rooftop bar and restaurant were chaotic, and getting food or drinks took far too long.

Everything was great, from the friendly staff to the spotless room and nice firm bed. The food was good too. I’d stay here again.

I’m still shocked by how this was handled. I’d been locked out of my apartment after losing my keys, so I went to macawa hotel in Armenia Quindío and explained what had happened. The receptionist asked whether I had a passport. I said I didn’t, but had a UK driving licence, and she just told me a passport wasn’t needed. She offered nothing else, leaving me with no choice but to walk the streets. The staff were uneducated.

There’s indoor parking, a rooftop pool, and a supermarket across the avenue. Rooms on the upper floors have nice city views. This modern urban hotel is centrally placed for day trips to Panaca, Parque del Café, Salento, and Filandia. For Valle del Cocora, set off very early if you want to avoid the tourist rush.

The included breakfast was a real highlight for us: plenty of fresh food, from Colombian dishes to fruit and good coffee. The staff were kind, attentive, and welcoming, and everything was spotless and beautifully cared for, including the rooms and pool. We had such a relaxing, comfortable stay at Mocawa Resort. We think it’s the best hotel in Armenia and are already looking forward to coming back.
